my oldest (17) is messy. she seems to be perpetually leaving messes, and i seem to be perpetually frustrated by the mess. but a mess that looks like this is more difficult to be annoyed at, even when it leaves no space to walk in the living room:
she has designed and hand stitched this completely by herself using her own fabric stash and scraps of feedsack she has scavenged from me, including the solid yellow feedsack in the pile to the left...don't remember giving that to her.
for my grandmother's flower garden making friend mary (i have several good friends named mary. i've decided that it's s name that i get along well with.), this is how she is pressing it:
now this.....this IS annoying:
needle stuck on the sofa cushion, scissors left where little fingers can find them and destroy. but she did surprise me by getting up and cleaning the kitchen without being asked this morning, not even hoping to be re-imbursed for it (at least she hasn't brought it up yet). THAT was a surprise and a treat.
daughter number 2 is working on her own flower garden quilt that is just as remarkable and has tiny 3/8 inch hexagons. i'm so happy that they can pick up a needle and create beautiful things...and enjoy the process.
we bought the oldest her junior prom dress this morning, and she wasted no time posting the photos to her blog.
