spring is blooming in our yard, and it makes me happy.....
the weeping cherry (not quite the same as sakura, but pretty close)
.....and the daffodils
i am feeling elated, almost gleeful, because i have finished this quilt top. i took this photo as i was marking the quilting design this morning. the glee comes from the fact that gracie napped long enough for me to mark it AND to baste it with the batting and backing - ready to hand quilt. THANK YOU gracie! napping is not your strong point, and i greatly appreciate your cooperation.
i'm excited about the cone border, which i challenged myself to figure out how to make. i have admired cone borders on depression era quilts, but have never found a pattern or instructions for making them. each antique cone border i have inspected has been made very differently. i managed to put this together AND make it fit! i also designed the appliqued quarter circles, with lexi's input. thanks lex!
i have a week and a half to have it submitted for the quilt show. think i can do it (hand quilt, hand bind, add a sleeve & a label)? i hope to..... we'll see.
